BFNL wrap: All Bellarine Netball results from round 8

Anglesea secured a big win against Newcomb, while three other games ended with a one-point result. See the full wrap here.

A strong second half was enough to seal Anglesea’s second win of the season, beating Newcomb 49-35.

The Kangaroos led 22-19 at the main break, before piling on 27 second-half goals to run away with the victory.

Anglesea coach Tegan Philip said the intensity of the game lifted in the second half.

“I think it was the natural progression of the game, we didn’t change anything at half time,” she said.

“Our pressure and communication lifted in the third quarter, all the girls played their roles really well.

“It got a little tight there and there was the potential for us to get caught up in what was going on, but they stayed cool and stuck to what we needed to do.”

Anglesea moved to 2-6 after a difficult start to the season, but remain just six points out of finals contention after Modewarre lost by one goal to Drysdale.

Barwon Heads v Portarlington

Portarlington notched it’s first win of the season in a 37-36 showstopper against Barwon Heads.

The Demons scored 11 goals to five to overturn a four-goal deficit at the final break, with goal shooter Ellie Dufty scoring 23 in the win.

Drysdale v Modewarre

Drysdale also claimed a one-goal win against Modewarre after trailing at the final break.

The Hawks scored 11 final-quarter goals to run out 44-43 winners, with Drysdale’s Alyce Delaney proving too difficult to stop with 35 goals.

Torquay v Queenscliff

Torquay was too good for Queenscliff, winning 48-30 in their clash.

A 17-goal third quarter set up the big win, with Tiger Elise Hall scoring 36 goals in the match.

The Tigers now sit alone on the top of the ladder with an 8-0 record.

Geelong Amateur v Ocean Grove

A five-goal lead at half time was not enough of a buffer for Geelong Amateur, which recorded its first loss of the season.

Ocean Grove’s Rebecca O’Neill scored 32 goals as the Grubbers came from behind to claim a 46-45 victory against the Ammos.
