Best Territory destinations revealed in Tourism NT’s top ten posts of 2022

From the rich colours of the Red Centre to the brilliant blue hues of the Arafura Sea, the most Instagrammed travel locations in the NT have been revealed. See the full list here.

From thermal pools to dolphin pods, iconic outback pubs to awe-inspiring landscapes, the Territory is a feast for eyes – and Instagram likes.

Tourism NT has revealed its top ten re-shared posts of 2022, with images spanning the Red Centre to East Arnhem Land among the line-up.

Topping the list is a shot of Uluru by @twosometravellers, which has attracted almost 11,000 likes.

James and Alex of @twosometravellers said the big rock was just as awe-inspiring in real life as they had hoped.

“This captivating landscape is more than just a desert, it’s hard to put into words the magic that surrounds this place,” the pair said.

“An initial three day trip to Yulara quickly turned into two full weeks of soaking up everything this place has to offer.

“We know it won’t be our last trip to the remarkable Red Centre of Australia.”

Tourism Minister Nicole Manison said Instagram was a great platform to market the Territory to young adventurers.

“The imagery on @NTaustralia over the past year once again highlights our stunning landscapes, waterfalls and outback adventures, in addition to our Aboriginal art and cultural experiences, showcasing what the Territory has to offer,” she said.

“Our latest visitor numbers show our tourism recovery is on track, tourists are staying longer and spending more.”

Tourism NT’s official social media accounts have a combined following of more than 1,027,000 users.

Territorians and visitors alike are encouraged to tag @NTAustralia and #NTAustralia on their holiday snaps, to give Tourism NT permission to repost.
