JOINT Tiwi Bombers coach Shane Tipuamantimirri says his side can only get better after grabbing their sixth straight win.
The 38-point roundup of the fourth-placed Buffaloes kept the Tiwis in equal second place with St Mary’s and within reach of the important double chance.
Tipuamantimirri said the old adage of keeping the game simple definitely applied to his players.
The Bombers are hunting their first grand final appearance since 2012, the same season they won their only Premier League flag.
“The gameplans we got together in the pre-season that we changed a little bit for what is happening now, still apply,’’ he added.
“The fitness side has also been a big bonus, the players know they can run out games and while it’s working we want to get better.
“Our skills are the best in the competition, but we’ve still got a lot of improvement in us and a lot of players to come back into the side.’’
“The depth of players we’ve got is better than last year and probably most years with the right mix of inside and outside players and talls and smalls.’’
Big men Chris Jones and Lachy Howe are tipped to come into the side for Saturday’s big afternoon clash with runaway ladder leaders Nightcliff.
Suspended stars Dion Munkara, Harley Puruntatameri are also due to come back into the side.
“Nightcliff is a hard running, super competitive team and that’s how they won the premiership,’’ Tipuamantimirri said.
“We’ll have be at the top of our game to beat them.’’
