Two Australian landmarks are some of the most recognisable in the world, according to a new survey – with one of them in the Northern Territory.
Both Uluru and the Sydney Opera House have been named in the top 20 most iconic landmarks in the world by Travel Insurance company AllClear.
The results placed Uluru at 18th, while the opera house made sixth place.
Topping the list was the Statue of Liberty in New York, however the opera house beat out other icons such as London’s Big Ben and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.
Uluru beat the Easter Island Statues and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to make the top 20.
AllClear compiled its results from a survey of 2000 people globally through a multiple choice questionnaire.
AllClear head of communications Letitia Smith said it was interesting to discover what the world’s most “iconic” landmark was.
“Seeing the world’s most famous landmarks is something that that features on many of our holiday wish lists, because while we all might have seen countless photographs of these sights, nothing can compare to seeing them with your own eyes,” she said.
