Police are investigating a serious crash which has triggered road closure.

Traffic diversions on the Stuart Highway have eased following a crash north of Tennant Creek.

The single vehicle rollover, 77km north of Tennant Creek, closed one lane of the highway while police responded.

The lane has since partially reopened, with traffic being directed through while investigations continue.

Police have yet to confirm how many people were in the car and the extent of injuries.

Motorists are advised to take Churchills Head Road as an alternate route where possible.

Alice Springs: Teens charged after allegedly breaking into business, stealing

THREE teens have been arrested in Alice Springs for allegedly stealing bikes, cash and damaging cars.

Police allege five people broke into a business on Fogarty St after 1am on Tuesday, August 9.

The group allegedly damaged the windows of two vehicles before stealing two bikes and cash.

Strike Force Viper members identified three of the people as youths, all aged 14 years old.

They were arrested the next morning and charged with one count each of unlawful entry, criminal damage, stealing and trespassing.

They will appear in court at a later date.

Investigations continue to find identify the other two people.

Cops arrest 19yo hiding in cupboard

A MAN who tried to evade police by hiding in a cupboard has been arrested for multiple alleged property offences.

Police say on July 16, the 19-year-old allegedly broke into a Lyndavale home and stole alcohol, cash and jewellery before taking a vehicle parked at the address.

The vehicle was used to smash out of the fenced property, causing significant damage before it was abandoned at a nearby street.

Police further allege the man broke into a second property in the same street, smashing a glass sliding door before running away.

Strike Force Viper members identified the man, who they say was avoiding police, when he was found at a shopping centre on August 6.

The man was chased before he fled in a taxi. He was later found hiding from police in a cupboard at a residence in Larapinta.

The man was arrested and taken to the Alice Springs watch house where he was charged with unlawful entry, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, trespassing, breaching suspended sentence and two counts of damage to property.

He was remanded in custody, to appear in Alice Springs Local Court at a later date.

26yo charged with assault, stealing from business

A MAN will front court after allegedly indecently assaulting a youth at a business and stealing clothing from the store.

Police allege on August 5 at 3pm, the 26-year-old assaulted the female at an Alice Springs business before stealing clothing.

The incident was reported to police and members of the Southern Alcohol Policing Unit found the man in the Todd River.

He was arrested and taken to the Alice Springs watch house and charged with one count each of aggravated assault and stealing.

The man was remanded to appear before Alice Springs Local Court on Wednesday.

Teen, men arrested over alleged beating

A TEENAGE boy is among three people arrested and charged over the alleged assault of a man in Alice Springs.

Members from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigations Unit arrested two men aged 59, 41 and a boy, 15, following the incident on August 5.

Police will allege a 43-year-old man suffered head and upper body injuries when he was allegedly assaulted with a blunt weapon about 12.30pm on Todd St.

The trio were unknown to the victim.

The 41-year-old and 59-year-old were charged with unlawfully causing serious harm, engaging in violent conduct and being armed with an offensive weapon.

Both appeared in court on August 8.

The 15-year-old was charged with unlawfully causing serious harm and engaging in violent conduct.

He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

The 41-year-old was also charged with assault of a police officer, following an incident on August 5 at the Alice Springs Police Station.
