The Alice Springs Masters Games will return in 2023, the first time since the start of the Covid pandemic

AFTER a three year absence due to the Covid pandemic, the dates are locked in for the iconic Alice Springs Masters Games to make its Red Centre return in 2023.
The games are set to return from October 14-23, with potential competitors able to combine a bucket-list trip to Alice Springs with a massive sporting event.
Sports can now also send in expressions of interest if they’re keen on being involved in the Masters Games.
A wide variety of sports have been included in the program in previous iterations, and it is expected there will be plenty of sport on show once again in 2023.
Major Events Minister Paul Kirby said it was great to have the much-loved Territory event make a return.
“The Alice Springs Masters Games is a much-loved Territory event that welcomes new and repeat competitors from all over the country and overseas keen to take part,” Mr Kirby said.
“It’s fantastic to see the Games return after being affected by Covid, and the enthusiasm we’ve already seen from competitors, sports and the Alice community in general is great.”
Former competitors are encouraged to enter the Legends Competition to score themselves a $100 Discover Central Australia Tourism voucher.
There are three vouchers up for grabs with sportspeople able to share a memorable moment, an inspiring story or even an on-track mishap that turned out alright in the end.
“(Competitors are also) excited about the range of unforgettable experiences accessible in the Red Centre. This is great news for Red Centre businesses and the Territory economy,” Mr Kirby said.
“We’ve seen how events such as Parrtjima and Red CentreNATS deliver full hotels and a bustling CBD, and that’s exactly what these games will continue to do.
“If you’re involved in a Territory sport and want to see it included in next year’s Games, get your Expression of Interest in now.”
Registrations for the Alice Springs Masters Games will open later this year.
