THE owner of a popular Alice Springs bike shop has been forced to upgrade her security after multiple thefts left her missing some bicycles.

My Ride owner Wvonne Pfau said six bikes, gloves and some other property were allegedly stolen from the about 2.46am on Tuesday.

The point of entry was a jammed rear door and one of the bicycles was dumped a short distance away shortly after the break in.

“We have put bars across the door now so it’s actually going to be very difficult for them to actually get in once we lock the door and put bars that bolt in so you can’t physically wheel a bike out,” Ms Pfau said.

The stolen bikes and upgraded security come after the entrance to Jetcor Yamaha and Honda was extensively damaged next door to My Ride Alice Springs earlier this year.

In early May, NT police were notified a white Mitsubishi Challenger which was allegedly stolen earlier, was used to ram raid Stuart Hwy stores.

Ms Pfau said the entrance to Jetcor was extensively damaged and yet to be fully repaired.

“It still hasn’t been repaired fully because they damaged the whole front of the building”

Ms Pfau said the alleged thieves at her business were persistent and tried multiple points of entry.

“They tried to jump the fence, you can see in the camera footage that they arrived in a car and jumped the fence, they jemmied one after they tired all the doors,” she said.

Although items had been returned, Ms Pfau said her business was still suffering as a result of the stolen bikes.

“The most expensive ones are still yet to be located,” Ms Pfau said.
