Alice Springs $14m crime package will help the community in 'lots of different ways'

LONGTIME Alice Springs locals Ray and Di Loechel are set to sell the Todd Tavern and Gap View Hotel to Australian hospitality group Iris Capital.

The Loechels acquired the Todd Tavern in 1998 and the Gap View Hotel in 2007.

After dedicating more than two decades to the Red Centre, the Loechels will be leaving Alice Springs.

Iris Capital is a Sydney-based company run by pub magnate Sam Arnaout.

Iris Capital has been active in the Red Centre this year, having committed to spending $70m to double the size of Lasseters Hotel.
The couple have already sold the Gap View Hotel with the acquisition of Todd Tavern yet to be finalised.
Todd Tavern in particular is a historical icon in the Red Centre as the oldest hotel pub in Alice Springs, opening first in 1959.

Originally called the Riverside Hotel and having adopted many names in the future, Todd Tavern has undergone many renovations and changes in owners.
The Gap View Hotel has also become a staple in Alice Springs, having obtained a Hospitality NT Award for Excellence for Best Overall Regional Pub/Tavern in 2022.
