Young talent in the Red Centre capital brought fierce competition to the local skatepark as part of a new festival, with a select few claiming the top spot in a closely fought contest on bikes, scooters, and skateboards.
On Sunday, the Dusty Streets A-Town festival held a competition at the Alice Springs skatepark, with winners in the scooter, BMX, and skateboarding category all walking away with prizes.
The competition was organised by Triptic event company managing director LJ Devlin and supported by NT Major Events Company.
“The competition was great; there was heaps of engagement from lots of young locals,” Ms Devlin said.

- Scooters 13 to 17 - Joel Connell
- Skateboarding Boys under 14 - Louis Batty
- Skateboarding Girls under 14 - Eden Micallef
- BMX under 12 - Darius
- BMX under 17 - Apia
- Blades & Quads under 15 - Ngatutai
- Blades & Quads adult - Kai Garcia
- BMX adult - Nathan Marengo
- Skateboarding adult - Steph Harrison
Category winners received vouchers for local shops and restaurants, special helmets, shoes, hats, and hardware for their ride of choice, Ms Devlin said.
Ms Devlin said she was planning to bring the competition back next year.
“There’s definitely an amazing BMX contingent in a round town … we definitely had plenty of plenty of engagement from the BMX kids in town and plenty of young up and coming skaters in town,” she said.
