BOY George now has the opportunity to coach Alice Springs musician Colin Lillie to stardom, after being wowed by his vocal talents on television favourite The Voice.

Scotsman Lillie, 44, appeared on screens across the nation on Wednesday night, after producers heard him via Spotify last year.

Lillie, whose partner is Lingiari CLP candidate and Alice Springs councillor Jacinta Price, watched his own performance — while surrounded by family and friends — on the big screen at the Juicy Rump.

“When an opportunity comes, you have to take it,” Lillie said.

“I want to be the best Colin I can be. The best singer, the best performer; the best ambassador for my community and the Northern Territory that I can possibly be.”

He wowed the judges with a rendition of Father and Son, by Cat Stevens — winning himself a place on the team of pop legend Boy George.

“The audience reaction was incredible and I got really emotional,” Lillie said.

“It was really special, because it’s not just about me; it’s about showing who I am now, my family and my home, which is Alice Springs.”
