Alice Springs Town Council releases tender, reveals final designs for CBD regeneration

The final designs of a CBD Territory council regeneration project have been unveiled, with construction expected to begin later this year – pending one key thing.

The Alice Springs CBD is set to get a spruce up – once a newly opened tender is awarded as part of a years-long council project.

The final designs for the “Regenerating the Alice Springs town centre” project have been unveiled by the Alice Springs Town Council.

Construction on project, which began in 2023, is now expected to begin this year, according to the council’s website.

A construction date is yet to be set, pending the newly released tender being awarded.

The project has gone through a number of community consultations, and earlier this year was pushed riverside by disagreement between the church and council.

As part of the project, the council is seeking to regenerate the Todd Mall, but the council could not reach an agreement on a parcel of land owned by the Alice Springs Uniting Church.

The Todd Mall upgrade is still going ahead, with only a segment of the mall upgrade not proceeding.

The project is upgrading Leichhardt Tce, the Hartley St carpark area, and the Todd Mall.

Applications for the tender close July 31.
