Alice Springs crime: Cops make arrests over separate Sadadeen stabbing, DV incidents

The second man wanted in connection to a stabbing in suburban Alice Springs – which led to security being installed in a servo – has been caught, cops say. Read the latest.

May 19, 4.30pm: Police say they have caught the second man wanted in connection to an alleged stabbing at a service station in Alice Springs last month.

On Monday, NT Police said the second male wanted in relation to the incident was arrested by members of the Southern Division.

The 21-year-old was one of two men wanted in connection to an alleged stabbing at the Sadadeen BP on April 27.

The stabbing allegedly happened when the service station worker attempted to stop two men who were allegedly shoplifting from the store, police said at the time.

The worker was allegedly stabbed when they intervened, police said, with management installing private security inside the servo in the wake of the incident.

On May 2, a 24-year-old man was arrested in relation to the alleged crime after police put out images of two people they believed would assist with inquiries.

The 21-year-old is yet to be charged.

Woman, kid, hospitalised over Lajamanu ‘disturbance’

May 19, 3.45pm: A young boy and a woman are in a Top End hospital with deep cuts, as police search for a woman they believe may have inflicted the injuries.

In a statement, Northern Territory Police connected the injuries to a “disturbance” at a home in Lajamanu on Saturday morning.

The woman, whose age was not provided by police in the statement, went to the clinic where she had deep cuts on her forearm, bicep, and forehead.

The young boy, whose age was also not provided by police, had a cut on his hand, police said.

Both were medically evacuated to Royal Darwin Hospital, police said.

Police are searching for a woman – who police say is known to the victims – but they are yet to locate her.

The woman’s age also was not provided by police, as well as a description of the woman.

Police said investigations are ongoing.

Red Centre rock assault: charges laid, court date set for accused

May 19, 2.30pm:A 23-year-old man who allegedly bashed a woman with a rock is on remand awaiting his first court appearance in the Red Centre, where he will face multiple charges.

NT Police, via a statement, said the man was formally charged on Monday after his arrest last Thursday in Alice Springs.

Police have alleged the man assaulted his partner, threw her against a parked car, and pulled her hair.

When she tried to run away, the man chased her and allegedly attempted to continue to the alleged assault, according to police.

A woman attempted to intervene, with the man allegedly assaulting her with a rock, police said.

The man remains in custody awaiting his court date, where he will face a litany of charges.

Police said the man had been charged with assaulting a person preventing injury to another; two counts of aggravated assault; aggravated burglary; damage to property; and two counts of making a threat to kill a person.

He will appear in the Alice Springs Local Court July 31.
