In the world of dating apps, it turns out that the key to landing a match might not be that perfect selfie or your witty bio, but what’s parked in your driveway.

According to new research, driving an electric vehicle (EV) might just be cupid’s secret weapon.

MoneySuperMarket data reveals that owning an EV can boost your chances of matching on dating apps by 104 per cent.

It’s clear that today’s daters are drawn to more than just revheads but they’re attracted to innovation and eco-friendly flair.

As the study revealed 7 out of the 10 most attractive cars were electric.

The study created identical dating profiles on a range of apps, in cities across the world and swapped on the cars.

Analysing data from 100 models of vehicles form 34 car brands it revealed that cars are more than just a ride but are statements.

In fact, featuring a vehicle in your profile has more of a positive impact on match rates compared to profiles with no car at all.

For men, it doubled the rate of landing a date, for women, it raised their chances by 56 per cent and 34 per cent overall.

So it’s clear that while it matters for women to show their car, men experience a far greater boost from flaunting their ride.

It was also the best performer for female profiles, securing a match rate of 62 per cent, beating competitors like the Porsche 718 Boxster, Tesla Model S, Audi e-tron GT and Chevrolet Corvette.

Although when it came to male profiles, the quirky and nostalgic Volkswagen Buzz ID topped the charts, with nearly 17 per cent match rates, a staggering 170 per cent boost than profiles with no car.

Of course, owning a Tesla also helps, with the Model S propelling male profiles into the spotlight.

The study also revealed gender differences, sporty vehicles and coupes resonated more with female profiles, SUVs proved more favourable with men.

Overall, owning a prestige car significantly increased match rate for both genders.

Sadly, not every car helps with your dating profile, in fact, the least “sexy” brands like Nissan, MG and Skoda actually made match rates drop.
