When there’s an influx of luxury electric SUVs, they can start to blur into one - a sea of aerodynamic shapes, muted colours and silent motors.
But the Mercedes AMG EQE 53 SUV is one that refuses to get lost in the crowd.
What I love about this vehicle is that it’s a car boldly represents everything Mercedes-Benz stands for - luxury, innovation and performance.
While many EVs chase trends, this one sets them.
Starting with its power, the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 SUV takes the standard EQE SUV’s dual-motor setup up a notch and delivers a staggering 460kW of power and 950Nm of torque.
A significant leap from the 215kW offered by the EQE 350 and the 180kW in the entry-level EQE 300.
Dual electric motors powered by a 90.5kW lithium-ion battery, the AMG EQE 53 SUV offers 380 (WLTP) of range, which is a little low in comparison to its rivals.

Of course, being an AMG, it comes with the signature styling upgrades, enhanced driving dynamics and unsurprisingly a hefty price tag of approximately $191,900 plus on-road costs.
Unlike many Mercedes models, the options list here is relatively short.
The AMG dynamic plus package is certainly the star of the show and sounds enticing, until you hear the price.
For $7,400 extra you’ll get a “race start” mode that increases the power to 505kW and torque to 1000Nm, it also bumps the top speed from 220km/h to 240km/h, and trims the 0-100km/h sprint to just 3.5 seconds.
It’s certainly a package for performance enthusiasts.

While it may not lead the pack in range, its balance of performance, luxury and practicality, the AMG EQE 53 SUV is an appealing choice for everyday drivers or families.
If you’re after a luxury electric SUV that combines AMG-level thrills with everyday practicality.
But its price and reduced range may give some consumers a pause especially with so many options in the market.
However, for those who prioritise performance and exclusivity the AMG EQE 53 SUV is hard to ignore.
