A Perth man has been charged with drink driving after he was seen in a wild video crashing his car into a house — before copping some choice words from bystanders.
Footage of the incident was uploaded to Reddit over the weekend by videographer Luke Dewar, who was in the passenger seat filming after the silver Holden ute began “acting really furious” and tailgating their car along Guron Road in Duncraig before “he finally flew past us almost hitting us”.
The video shows the ute driving erratically in front of them, veering around a corner.
“He’s going to frigging kill someone, dude,” his companion says.
They round the corner and regain sight of the ute, which has come to a 180-degree stop on someone’s lawn with the driver standing by the open door looking confused.
“You’re a d**k! An absolute d**k, mate,” Mr Dewar’s friend yells at him.
“F**king hell … what the f**k?” the dazed driver says.
As other bystanders ask what happened, Mr Dewar’s friend informs them that “he’s the driver there — and he’s a d**k”.
“What’s happened?” the man asks.
“What do you mean what’s happened? You’re fried, mate,” the driver tells him.
“I’m not, I’m not,” he insists, adding “it was an accident”.
“It was not an accident, you peanut,” Mr Dewar’s friend says. “There’s kids around, mate, you would’ve killed someone.”
WA Police said a 40-year-old Sorrento man had been charged over the June 28 incident.
“About 2.45pm, a Holden Maloo utility crashed into a tree outside a home on Guron Road in Duncraig,” a spokesman said.
“The driver then drove away from the scene, before the utility crashed into the wall of a property further down the road. A short time later, the 40-year-old male driver was arrested. He underwent a breath analysis test which allegedly provided a positive result.”
The man was charged with exceeding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05 per cent, driving an unlicensed vehicle, driving with a cancelled license, and reckless driving in a confiscation zone.
“The utility was impounded,” WA Police added.
Mr Dewar has been contacted for comment.
