Fruit and veggie truck rolls after a mattress goes flying onto the roadway

A mattress went flying off a car and into the path of a truck on a Sydney highway – causing a massive spill of fruit and vegetables.

Sydney's NorthConnex tunnel to open Saturday morning

A trucker’s highway cruise went pear-shaped after a mattress blew off another car, causing the truck to roll and a load of fruit and veggies to spill out on the road.

The crash was reported at 8.30pm on Monday on the M4 Motorway near the Church Street off ramp in Parramatta, NSW.

The 63-year-old truck driver was trapped in the cabin after the Pantech truck tipped over and had to be freed by emergency officials.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital with minor injuries.

As for the flying mattress, police said it came off the roof of a dark coloured SUV travelling east on the motorway.

Officers would like to speak to the driver off that SUV, which allegedly left the scene before police arrived.

A crime scene was established and an investigation opened.
