A truck that caught alight and spilt diesel on the Hume Motorway is causing major traffic delays for northbound motorists at Eagle Vale, southwest of Sydney’s CBD.

Traffic has queued for more than six kilometres after two northbound lanes of the motorway, just past Ruby Road, were closed as a result of the fire.

Three northbound lanes have now opened, and the fire has been extinguished.

Motorists are asked to allow extra travel time or consider using Narellan Road and Camden Valley Way as an alternative.

Emergency services and traffic crews are on site.
