A driver has been slammed online for their “incredibly incompetent” attempt at parking their car.
Their awful parking ability was exposed earlier this week by the driver of the car they parked next to, who had purposely left their vehicle far from the shops to avoid it getting scratched.
When they returned, however, they were astonished to discover that, despite there being ample free spaces nearby, a car had parked next to theirs, diagonally, and partially in their bay.
The fuming driver photographed the scene, captured at a car park in Cleveland, Brisbane, and shared it to Reddit on Monday.
“I parked as far away from the store as I could so no one would park next to me and ding my car. This is what I returned to,” they wrote.
The angry driver’s white Suzuki is seen parked in a space, which has been encroached into by a blue Hyundai.
“No one believes me when I tell them how unbelievable other drivers (parkers, really) are sometimes. Hence the photo,” the person behind the post wrote.
More than 200 people shared the driver’s outrage.
“Never ceases to amaze me how lazy and selfish some drivers are,” one person remarked.
“I’ve often wondered how anyone could park like that, get out with a straight face and walk away,” someone else said.
“That is an impressively incompetent stab at parking,” a third wrote.
Others suspected the Hyundai driver had made a poor attempt at using the Suzuki as a guide to reverse in.
“Sometimes it’s easier to park using another parked car as a guideline. No cars and I can’t see the lines and have to fix it again,” one wrote.
Some argued that drivers subconsciously had a pack mentality which meant people would park close to others regardless of whether a carpark was empty or not.
“My theory is a lot of people just run with the herd and do what the group does,” one wrote.
Most respondents were less forgiving however.
“I honestly think that people like this have never owned a new car in their life and/or were never taught about respecting other people’s things when they were children,” one reply read.
“This right here is the reason I drive a s**tbox ute that I don’t care about getting dinged and keep the car I give a sh*t about at home,” another said.
