Woman dead, girl injured in major head-on crash in Brisbane’s north west

A woman has died and an eight-year-old girl has been injured after a horror highway crash on Monday morning northwest of Brisbane.

A woman has died and a young girl is in a serious condition following a horror crash northwest of Brisbane on Monday morning.

The crash occurred at 7.15am when a Toyota ute and Mazda hatchback collided head-on on the D’Aguilar Highway in Moodlu, near Caboolture.

A 37-year-old Wamuran woman died at the scene.

An eight-year-old girl was trapped in the car following the crash and had to be rescued.

Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said she was transported to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a serious condition with head, pelvis and significant leg injuries.

The driver of the ute, a 25-year-old man, was also taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Two other drivers were not physically injured.

The D’Aguilar Highway will remain closed until at least 1pm while emergency service crews remain at the scene.

Officers are diverting traffic via Williams Rd and motorists have been urged to avoid the area.

A police investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
