Centenary Motorway, Mt Coot-tha: Multi-vehicle crash causes 10km delays

Drivers travelling on a major motorway were hit with delays of up to an hour and 20 minutes after a multi-vehicle crash just before peak hour.

Motorists travelling on Brisbane’s major Centenary Motorway were hit with lengthy delays and 10km traffic jams following a two-car crash on Tuesday morning.

Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance were called to the Toowong exit in Brisbane’s riverside area following the multi-vehicle crash.

Drivers travelling to the CBD via the Western Freeway were advised by police to avoid the area near Mt Coot-tha.

Delays stretched up to an hour and 20 minutes, with traffic backed up for 10km along the busy motorway.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said two patients were assessed at the scene. One declined further assistance from paramedics, and the other person was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said no major injuries were reported and traffic delays had eased, with congestion at normal peak-hour delays by 8.43am.
