A pedestrian was lucky to walk away without serious injury after an out-of-control car sped down a steep rocky cliff near Kiama’s famous blowhole, south of Sydney.
Shortly before 2pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Blowhole Point Road at Kiama, following reports a vehicle had crashed down an embankment.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found an unoccupied silver Honda sedan had rolled down a steep grass verge.
The sedan had ripped through bushes before crossing the road and rolling down a further steep embankment where it stopped just above the rock pools.
Fire and rescue crews from the NSW south coast town rushed to help.
One person was reportedly hit as the vehicle careered towards the ocean, Fire and Rescue NSW said.
They were not badly injured.
“It was extremely fortunate that nobody else was hurt in this incident,” FRNSW said on Facebook.
“Our crew stood by with NSW Police Force until a tow truck could recover the vehicle and then cleaned up a small fluid spill.”
The owner of the Honda organised to have the tar towed away.
