Confronting photos of serious crash that hospitalised five teens have revealed disturbing details about the incident.

Confronting images have emerged following a serious crash that injured five teens in Sydney’s south west.

Emergency crews were called to Stony Creek Rd, Beverly Hills at about 6am on Friday after a car collided with a pole.

All five were hospitalised as a result of the incident, with crash scene photos showing the disfigured and almost unrecognisable mess that was once a Honda Accord.

Fire and Rescue NSW revealed their crews needed to use hydraulic tools to free one of the injured teens from the crash.

“FRNSW firefighters had to cut apart the vehicle to free one of the teens, who was a back seat passenger,” it said in a statement.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Anne Lennard said it was one of the boys who became trapped. He suffered minor head injuries.

It comes during a period where NSW is still grieving after five teenagers were killed when the ute they were travelling in hit a tree on East Parade at Buxton on September 6.

“We have a direct correlation to what happened just days ago at Buxton; we are most fortunate that we didn’t lose another five lives in these circumstances,” Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden said on Friday.

“It comes back to the drivers – in both instances we have two 18-year-old drivers, these are adults that are taking responsibility for young people in their car.

“We shouldn’t be aspiring to be driving like these absolute idiots on the road.”

Police confirmed the driver was an 18-year-old suspended learner.

The teen wandered around immediately after the crash, muttering, ‘What have I done? What have I done?’ The Daily Mail reported.

Assistant Commissioner McFadden said it was a “community challenge” to help improve driving practices throughout the state.

“We need to make sure that as a community, we are doing everything we can to prevent these incidents taking place,” he said.

Two female passengers, both aged 16, were found with serious injuries. They were both rushed to St George Hospital in serious but stable conditions.

Two male passengers, aged 15 and 16, were treated at the scene following Friday’s crash and were taken to Liverpool Hospital in stable conditions.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene, which is being examined by specialist police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
