A bus carrying 20 passengers has smashed into two homes in Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula.
Emergency crews were called to Marine Pde in Safety Beach, about 11am on Wednesday after reports of a crash.
Victoria Police said what is believed to be a concreters truck was travelling north on Prescott Ave when it collided with a bus travelling west on Marine Pde.
“The impact of the collision caused the bus to crash through a front fence of a house on Prescott Avenue before clipping its roof,” Victoria Police said.
Police said the bus continued through another boundary fence and caused extensive structural damage to a second property.
Images from the scene show the fence completely destroyed.
Part of the roof of one of the homes appears to have collapsed.
Firefighters, paramedics and police were all in attendance.
SES said volunteers worked alongside partner agencies to extricate patients, and assist with propping the structure to safely remove the bus.
The driver of the bus, a 44-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Police said, as was a 17-year-old passenger.
The truck driver, a 32-year-old man, was uninjured and his helping police with their enquiries.
No-one was at home in either property at the time of the crash.
Sharon, whose son was on the bus, told Melbourne radio station 3AW that her son was a passenger on the bus.
“A truck has come out of a side road and T-boned the bus and slammed the bus - the bus has then gone into two houses,” she said.
“My son was on the bus and I just got to the crash site now... Apparently he’s got teeth knocked out.”
Sharon said the scene was “pretty chaotic.”
She said the bus was heading towards Portsea when the incident occurred.
