Where to get a coffee on Christmas Day 2024 in Darwin

If you’re going to be looking for a good coffee or somewhere to go for brunch in the Christmas break - Kate Dinning has done the hard work for you.

It’s Christmas week, and I almost can’t believe it – it feels like I was only just writing this column for 2023.

Many cafés will be closed from Tuesday this week for at least a couple of days, and some will take a well-earned break right through until after the New Year.

If you’re going to be looking for a good coffee or somewhere to go for brunch in the Christmas break - I’ve done the hard work for you.

CHRISTMAS EVE

First things first, duck into Parap Fine Foods in Parap or Mamma’s Kitchen in Coolalinga and Palmerston on Christmas Eve for any last-minute platter additions, hampers, groceries – or bags of your own coffee.

If you’ve got family visiting and want to take them for a nice authentic Darwin experience or a nice ocean view - The Gully is open on Christmas Eve, as is the Foreshore Café from 7am – 2.30pm, and Saltwater @ Bundilla is open too – you can check out the Cyclone Tracy exhibition visit while you’re there.

CHRISTMAS DAY

On Christmas morning, if you want to get in early, Kopi Stop in the CBD will be open from 7.30am until 12pm, as will The 1995 on Cavanagh Street.

In the Vic Arcade, you’ll also find Meow Waffee open for coffee and waffles from 8am – 1pm.

If you’re looking to get out of doing the cooking or the washing up, check out The Loose Goose, Dock One Bar, Wharf One, or book your table for a premium experience at Pepperberry Restaurant in the Hilton.

BOXING DAY

Chances are you’ll need a pick me up on Boxing Day, so add Rays Patisserie in the city to the list from 8am – 2pm, joined by Kopi Stop again opening from 7.30am – midday.

If you’re sticking to the suburbs, Sweet Brew & Co in Stuart Park will be open from 8am – 2pm, and Laneway Coffee in Parap from 7.30am – 2.30pm.

And if that’s all too much?

You can stock up on fresh DTown Coffee beans to get you through – locally roasted right here in Darwin.

You’ll find them at the Rapid Creek markets this weekend, or at their Coconut Grove café until Tuesday.

Merry Christmas and a fun and restful festive season to you all.
