DARWIN residents and other Top Enders woke to the unusual sounds of rain this morning as widespread — but unexpected — clouds moved slowly across the Top End.

The Bureau of Meteorology NT said the rain — and heat — was not what we expected from our usual Dry Season nights, but cooler weather was on the way.

Forecasters are expecting a cool push of air to make it’s way north by the weekend.

Rain is forecast tomorrow and Friday in Darwin with temperatures dipping down again from Friday.
