Waterfront restaurant Wharf One has been named restaurant of the year.

The venue cleaned up at the Northern Territory 2017 AHA ALM Gold Plate Awards earlier this week, taking home the prized Restaurant of the Year title – as well as Best Tourism Themed Restaurant and Best Stand Alone Restaurant. Owner Darren Lynch said the awards were the result of a lot of hard work.

“We had some pretty stiff competition and it was great to win – even more fantastic to win three,” he said.

Mr Lynch hopes the awards will lift the venue’s profile both locally and nationally.

“I think for interstate convention organisers, this tourism award will be good for us,” said Mr Lynch.

“And for locals, who may not have been here before, it might come to the forefront of their mind.”

The contemporary Australian cuisine offered ranges from offal to raw dishes and seafood, with the wood grill a key element to the cooking and flavours of the dishes.

Wharf One has clearly found a recipe for success and Mr Lynch said they were not looking to change things for the time being.
