FLIGHTS between Darwin and Brisbane will go on sale today for less than the cost of lunch in a Top End pub.
Tigerair will launch $15 fares, inclusive of GST, each way as part of its “special three-day sale” to celebrate flying its 15 millionth passenger since it started flying domestic routes in 2007.
The dirt cheap fares will apply to direct flights between Darwin and Brisbane on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between April 28-May 27 next year.
Tigerair Australia head of communications Vanessa Regan said “hundreds” of $15 seats on the Darwin-Brisbane route will be released each way from 2.30pm-midnight CST today or until sold out.

Ms Regan said she expects the cheap flights will be “very popular”.
“This is the lowest fare Tigerair has ever offered on this route and we expect a significant surge in demand when the sale commences at 2.30pm,” Ms Regan said.
“We do expect to sell out of the $15 fares (today), so we urge bargain seekers to get in quick to avoid disappointment.
“If it’s not the cheapest (airfare ever offered between Darwin and Brisbane), it’s certainly one of the cheapest ever offered.
“It’s about rewarding people that book early, which is what our model is all about.”
The $15 fares will include a seat and “up to two bags with a maximum combined weight of 10kg as carry-on luggage”.

A booking and service fee of $8.50 will be charged per flight per person for payment made by credit card or debit cards.
Ms Regan said there were no hidden costs but “optional extras” including checked-in baggage ($18.50 for 15kg each way), advanced seat selection (from $6) and pre-ordered meals (from $13) were available.
“All of our fares and additional charges are clearly outlined during the booking process to ensure full transparency for our customers,” she said.
Tigerair’s 15 millionth passenger sale offers 4500 select tickets in total from $15 on various domestic routes over three days, with today marking the final day of the sale.
