The Northern Territory has been listed in the top five most popular places Australians will visit in 2016.

Travel agency Flight Centre have issued a top 10 list of hot spots Australians are most likely to visit over the next year based on previous booking data and customer inquiries.

The Northern Territory came in at fifth spot.

Flight Centre has recorded a 25 per cent year-on-year increase in bookings to the Territory.

Uluru remains a popular destination with a launch of scenic flights over the Uluru and Mt Conner.

Darwin also remains to be a top destination among visitors.

Coming in at number one was Bali with Flight Centre indicating that numbers didn’t drop during intense media scrutiny earlier this year.

Rounding out the Top 10 was Greece, Tasmania, Vanuatu, Brazil, Portugal, Hong Kong, New Caledonia and New Zealand.
