10. The Cavenagh Hotel
Home to the tomahawk steak, the Cavenagh Hotel is a staple in Darwin.
On TripAdvisor, the Cav is ranked seventh out of 300 Darwin restaurants, and is renowned for its consistently impressive food and fantastic team.
The beer garden regularly has live music and it’s one of the few places around town to offer soda water for free.
9. The Precinct Tavern
Since opening its doors at the Darwin Waterfront in 2012, the Precinct has become famed for its range of parmigianas.
It’s recently had refurbishment to its outdoor area, making it great in the wet season too, though this has meant the casual Sunday beanbag sessions have disappeared.
There’s a pub menu at a cheaper price, and for those wishing to drop a few more dollars, there’s also a fancier restaurant.

7. Lazy Lizard Tavern, Pine Creek
A perfect place to stop if heading to Kakadu National Park from the south, the Lazy Lizard is always welcoming.
The unique outback tavern is constructed from termite mound-mud brick and features local ironwood carvings.
The food has been described as “very hearty”.
There’s also a caravan site and camping ground out the back.
6. Darwin Ski Club
Overlooking the Darwin Harbour for 50 years, the Ski Club just misses out on a top five spot.
There are often huge lines to order food but this just shows off the popularity of the venue.
The meals are huge, the view is stunning, there’s a pool to swim in and dogs are even welcome.
5. Monte’s Alice Springs
Known as a “travelling circus in the middle of Australia”, Monte’s is a must stop when in Alice Springs.
The outdoor deck area is where locals meet and is designed to look like the arcade section of a circus with a shooting gallery and other cutesy looks.
Local musicians also often perform for the crowds.
4. Daly Waters Historic Pub
Who could do a list of the top Territory pubs and not include Daly Waters?
Known for its annual Easter B & S ball, the Daly Waters Historic Pub is famed around the nation.
With bras hanging everywhere thanks to a drinking bet in the 80s between a coach driver and his female passengers, there’s now all sorts of memorabilia there.
The pub was built in 1930 and has witnessed cattle stampedes, murders, shootouts in the main street and drunken brawls.
It’s an iconic venue not to be missed when in the NT.
3. Berry Springs Tavern
There’s croc racing, there’s pet emus, and there is bloody good food — the Berry Springs Tavern is a great place to stop.
If you're headed to the nearby waterholes, it’s one of the closest spots to grab a six-pack, and a perfect place to fill up empty tummies afterwards.
Run by a local family, the venue is a typical Australian pub.
2. Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association
What’s more Territory than a Viking Funeral?
Well probably a lot of things but that doesn’t mean the Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association isn’t still a great spot to go.
While there’s no food on offer by the Dinah Beach CYA, the Chippy Dinah Beach is there to fill your fish and chip needs.
It’s tasty, the drinks are cheap and the entertainment is generally pretty good — DBCYA is a popular spot for locals.

It’s only an hour and a half from Darwin, so a perfect place to head for lunch, and is open every day except Christmas Day.
The beer garden is the selling factor of this pub, it’s set in an idyllic spot.
Plus, within the building you’ll find pics and memorabilia of the pub’s and town’s history.
And who could forget Charlie, the buffalo made famous by Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee.
Charlie was an Adelaide River resident until sadly passing away of old age in 2000; he is fondly remembered by NT locals, travellers and movie buffs alike.
