Laura Byrne, known from The Bachelor franchise and more recently her successful Life Uncut podcast, has tested positive to Covid-19.
Byrne shared the shock on her Instagram explaining her partner Matt Johnson, along with their daughters Marlie-Mae and Lola, and dog Buster, drove six hours for Christmas plans only to have to turn around again.
The family were heading from their Sydney home to Johnson’s family in Brisbane for Christmas.
The couple got tested to cross the Queensland border as part of the state’s border rules.
“Because we were driving and you have to get your test results back within 72 hours, we called NSW health and they were like if you don’t have any symptoms, if you’re only getting tested as a formality to travel you don’t have to quarantine or isolate,” Byrne told her Instagram followers.
“Matt, Marlie, Lola got their tests results back and they were completely negative.
“We got in the car, we drove to Coffs (Harbour) and when we got to Coffs we got my results back.”
Byrne said she was symptom free at the time but now back at home had a cough.
The couple said they were fully vaccinated and would be isolating with their daughters in their two-bedroom apartment.
Johnson and the kids have been retested and are waiting results.
Byrne and Johnson met on the fifth season of The Bachelor in 2017.
They have a combined total of 653,000 followers on Instagram, while Byrne’s Life Uncut podcast with Brittany Hockley has another 84,000 followers, and her jewellery business ToniMay has 107,000 followers.
On Friday, Queensland announced it had recorded 589 new Covid cases, while NSW recorded 5612 to 8pm on Thursday.
