‘Very excited’: Fashions on the Field opens to all genders

Spring racing season is well and truly here, with a bevy of attendees stepping out for TAB Everest Day at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse.

With a record-breaking $30 million in prize money for the winner of the race – and a possible visit from King Charles and Queen Camilla to keep in mind – there’s been no shortage of glamour at the event, both on and off the turf.

Among the “sellout crowd” and leading the style set was a member of a different royal family – Kate Waterhouse, daughter of legendary horse trainer, Gai Waterhouse.

The TV presenter and influencer opted for a sheer sleeveless gown by Australian designer Tony Maticevski, featuring a tinsel-embellished overlay.

Waterhouse paired the dress with a white Somewhere Here headpiece, Christian Louboutin heels, and accessories by Sydney-based jeweller Olivia Bond.

“You want a complete look that suits the importance of the day,” she told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“Looking around everyone really seems to have stepped up their style game this year. As for this dress, it’s like wearing a cloud.”

Grace Hayden dazzled in a white, bubble-hemmed mini dress and pale blue netted veil.

The 22-year-old, who is the daughter of Aussie cricketing legend Matthew Hayden, made a rare public appearance with her boyfriend, cotton heir Wilson Statham.

Statham’s parents, David and Danielle, own and operate the Sundown Pastoral Company, a family-run, privately-owned cotton and cropping enterprise spanning Queensland and northern NSW.

Saskia Wotton also chose local when it came to her look, quite literally sparkling in a metallic, strapless Manning Cartell dress.

The Muma World designer accessorised with a Mulberry handbag in pale blue, statement silver jewellery and a cream headpiece with a netted veil overlay.

Sonia Kruger, meanwhile, was dazzling in a one-shouldered white gown featuring a split up the middle.

The 59-year-old accessorised with a pale blue headband from Prada, transparent stilettos and a silver clutch.

Punters were told to leave the trackies at home for the world’s richest turf face.

All guests must adhere to the Members Reserve dress regulations. Joggers, sports shoes, thongs, “dilapidated” footwear, gumboots, slippers, jeans and denim, torn or ripped clothing, leggings, parkas, and anything showing your midriff is also prohibited.
