“It fills us up with pride to see so many people turn up to enjoy what GleNTi has to offer,” he said.
He said each year GleNTi was a chance to show how Territory Greeks do it best.
“We want to show that Darwin is the place to be,” he said.
“We’ve had Western Australian, South Australian, Victorian, Sydney and Brisbane Greek communities come to Darwin and take back what we do so they can implement it into their festivals.”
The excitement for GleNTi began last Saturday with Get Your Greek On in Smith St Mall.
Mr Poniris said the week of activities stirred excitement in the Darwin community.
“I don’t know how many times I get asked a day by the public how preparations are coming along and if it’s going to be better than last year,” he said.
“My comeback is ‘You have to come see it for yourself’.”
