RESIDENTS in Darwin’s rural area were shocked to find a strange circle of lights hovering above the night sky yesterday, sparking fears of ‘extraterrestrial’ visitors.
The bizarre formation of lights were spotted above Humpty Doo at about 10pm on Tuesday.
A local resident, who did not wish to be named, told the NT News the lights appeared to be hovering in one place and barely moved at all before vanishing.
“It was pretty weird,” he said.
“I don't know what it would be other than possibly extraterrestrial.
“If they were planes they would be moving.”
Territory UFO-ologist Alan Ferguson said he thought the photos appeared “authentic.”
“It’s UFO season for us so it doesn’t surprise me they are being spotted,” he said.
“Tonight will be a good night for spotting them with people out looking to the skies to see the blood moon.”
This recent sighting is not the first time residents in Humpty Doo have claimed to been visited by extraterrestrial beings.
Humpty Doo nurse Desi Friend claimed “alien forces” had been behind a series of strange duckling disappearances at her property in 2018.
The strange light sighting ranks four out of five Gerrys on the Gerrymeter, the metric used by the NT News to gauge the credibility of extraterrestrial-related news.
The Gerrymeter is named in honour of former Nelson MLA Gerry Wood, the NT’s most trustworthy retired politician and occasional UFO spotter.
