Dinner time as pack of crocs tear into buffalo carcass in Kakadu’s Yellow Water Billabong

IT was feasting time for our big lizards in Kakadu recently as a group of up to a dozen big crocs dug into a feed of buffalo. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

Crocs feed on dead buffalo

IT was dinner time on the Yellow Water billabong for our big lizards as they ripped into a buffalo carcass.

Up to a dozen crocs can be seen swarming on the buffalo, death rolling it and tearing it to shreds.

Tara Lee Priore-Smith took a video on Thursday around 10am of the crocs largely behaving themselves as they took turns to munch on the beast at the waterhole in Kakadu.

At one point one of the crocs flicks up its head and goes to bite another in an effort to tell its mate to back off.

“I counted 16 crocs at one stage and they were all just feeding on a big dead buffalo it was pretty cool,” she said.

She said the crocs were all about 4m in length or more.

Another croc is also seen death rolling the carcass in the murky water.

In another video from Ms Priore-Smith, the crocs can be seen under pandanus leaves tearing into the carcass as it floats away.

Ms Priore-Smith said it had been a “wicked” sight to see from the safety of a boat.
