"If an educator did this then they deserve to lose their job, if they feel this is okay!" a supporter wrote on the Aussie mum's viral post.

A recent Facebook post in a parenting group has sparked a heated debate after a mum vented her frustrations about her daughter's hair being unexpectedly cut while she was at daycare.
The anonymous poster said that she was shocked when she realised, not only because she hadn't authorised anyone to do it, but also because her five-year-old had never had a haircut before.
Opinions in the comments were split, with some agreeing with the mum that it was inappropriate, while others advised her to pause and consider that any number of things may have occurred.

'Looks like she was distracted'
Taking to a Sydney-based Facebook group, the mum wrote: "My five-year-old daughter came home from daycare with trimmed hair - looks like someone (an adult) trimmed it."
She continued: "We haven't cut her hair yet (since birth) and it's very disturbing for us to see that someone has done this to her."
Trying to understand what happened, she asked her daughter if anyone had "chopped" her hair.
Her daughter recalled that "she was talking to a friend and noticed her hair on the ground but she didn't know who it was."
But the mum thinks she knows which teacher it was, explaining that just a week prior, one of them had suggested to the mum that she should cut her daughter's hair so it "wouldn't tangle."
She also admitted that she is scared to complain to the daycare in case the teacher loses her job but would still like advice about how to handle the situation.

'I would be livid if this happened to my child'
Fellow mums weighed in, with many suggesting that the woman should definitely make a complaint.
"I would be livid if this happened to my child. I'm sure there would be cameras and I'd be asking for the footage to be viewed," one said.
Another remarked: "If an educator did this then they deserve to lose their job, if they feel in any way, shape or form that is ok, they need retraining!"
"Screw their feelings, that's your child, they have no right to take it upon themselves to cut your daughter's hair. I would be polite but very firm about how unacceptable this is," someone else wrote.
Others called it, "unacceptable", "100% not okay," and one person even branded it as "assault."
"She absolutely SHOULD lose that job and learn how to respect another human being's autonomy and always ask for CONSENT! Wow, just wow!" a different woman added.
'Get both sides of the story'
But others urged the mum to get the full story before making a decision.
"I agree you need to get both sides of the story. Don't go in guns blazing, just ask the question," someone posted.
Another replied, "Any number of things may have occurred like she got glue in her hair and they may have tried to fix the situation."
"At the very least when you get your explanation, ask them in the future if anything like this occurs, you are to be contacted prior," said another.
And then someone else suggested that maybe another child could have cut her hair, but someone replied saying that was a bigger issue in itself.
"This in itself is a big issue, as where did the child get access to scissors sharp enough to cut hair and left unsupervised long enough to cut another child's hair?" they said.
