'This glitter's my armour': Girldad takes internet by storm with iconic clapback about his painted nails

He's a "tank in a tiara" and he's bloody proud of it.

He’s got a trucker cap on his head, a thick grey beard on his chin, and a black T-shirt stretched over his dad-bod frame - but when this proud father opens his mouth, it’s glitter and grace that come pouring out.

The TikTok user known as b.u.p.c - or Boopsy - has taken the internet by storm with a poetic clapback to anyone who dared mock his painted nails.

Posted with the caption “A poem for my haters. Girldads unite!” the video has now been viewed more than 463,000 times, amassing 34,000+ comments and a tidal wave of praise for both the message - and the man behind it.

“So chuckle and point and scoff if you must / But this glitter’s my armour and I wear it with trust,” he recites in the now-iconic clip.

“The toughest of men don't flex or get loud"

The poem - equal parts rhyming joy and emotional gut-punch - celebrates fatherhood in its most tender, tutu-wearing form.

It’s a love letter to the bond between a dad and his daughter, and a powerful challenge to outdated stereotypes of what it means to be a "real man."

Let’s be honest: for generations, fathers were handed a rigid definition of masculinity - stoic, strong, emotionally reserved.

But this generation of dads? They're tearing that manual up, one Bluey-themed dance party at a time.

Boopsy’s poem paints a vivid picture of a “big manly man” with “muscles and stubble and thick leathery skin” who’s also the proud recipient of pastel manicures, sparkly makeovers, and princess parades.

And he loves it.

“The toughest of men don't flex or get loud / They host princess parties and make daughters feel proud.”

The comments are flooded with applause. “Not all heroes wear capes - some wear nail polish,” one user wrote. Another shared: “You’re the kind of daddy that every little girl dreams of!”

But it’s not just mums and daughters singing his praises - other dads are chiming in too.

“My brother and I are Navy veterans who love getting our toenails done with our wives and daughters,” one wrote. “We even let them pick the colours. Rock on, Dad.”

Another dad commented: “One of my daughters got nail polish on my work jacket years ago (fluorescent green). I still wear it to this day, and when asked about it I say: that’s my dad badge.”

And maybe that’s the heart of it. The nail polish, the tiaras, the tea parties - they’re not just cute little moments. They’re acts of love. Of presence. Of priority.

"I’d be home wearing Tinkerbell wings with makeup on."

This is what modern fatherhood looks like: involved, affectionate, unapologetic.

In a world where boys are still too often taught to “man up” instead of speak up, where men are told emotions make them weak, Boopsy is showing his daughter - and all of us - that emotional strength is real strength. That dancing in the lounge room to Disney tunes while wearing a boa isn’t emasculating. It’s empowering.

He’s not embarrassed by the sparkles. He honours them.

He’s not resisting femininity. He’s revering it.

And the beauty of it? He’s not trying to “make a statement” - he’s just being a good dad.

But in doing so, he is making a statement. A powerful one. That real men can be gentle. That masculinity isn’t fragile. That love doesn’t come with rules about colour palettes or clothing choices.

“I was a young dad,” another commenter shared. “While my friends were out drinking, I’d be home wearing Tinkerbell wings with makeup on. They laughed. Now they’re all dads - with painted toenails and bobbles in their hair. They get it.”

Of course they do. Because these aren’t just games - they’re connection.

And it’s that connection that kids remember. It’s the goofy moments, the uninhibited joy, the way dad said “yes” to glitter eyeshadow and sang "Let It Go" louder than anyone else in the house.

This poem is more than viral content - it’s a call to arms (or rather, arms with beaded friendship bracelets on them).

So let’s hear it for the dads who sit at tiny tables sipping imaginary tea, the ones who wear blush with a smile and accept daisy chains with reverence.

Let’s hear it for Boopsy, who rhymed his way through stereotypes and reminded us that love wears many outfits.

And if those outfits happen to include a tutu?

Even better.
