The only thing scarier than Kate's costume was realising her baby was on the way
Her little Who from Whoville stole the show.
You’ve heard all about The Grinch who stole Christmas.
Well, this mum’s bub stole Halloween.
Kate Eagleson was about a month out from her delivery date on Halloween in 2022, so she had expected she would be able to get into the spooky spirit of things without any issues.
She’d decided to dress up as Jim Carrey’s The Grinch and head out to trick or treat with her brother.
But the only thing scarier than her costume was the realisation that her baby was on the way.

"I had no idea I was going into labour"
“It was truly a one-of-a-kind scenario and I will never forget it,” Kate told Kidspot.
“I had no idea I was going into labour.”
“I was wheeled into the ER in full costume on Halloween… with a full Grinch face, green hands, Santa suit, and an onion in my hand,” she said.
The nurses were trying their best not to laugh at her situation.
“The nurses giggled and tried to hold it together, but I kept doing impressions and telling them they were absolutely allowed to laugh. I knew the situation was hilarious, and I also knew these nurses work really hard and deserve to be free and laugh with me,” she explained.
Because the baby was so early Kate had a long road ahead of her.

"Contracting nonstop"
“Since the labour started early, we needed to keep baby in as long as possible, especially since my water didn’t break yet. For 18 days, I stayed in active labour, contracting nonstop,” she explained.
“My daughter was born on November 18th. When I went into labour on Halloween night, I was 4 cm dilated, and stayed that way until the day she was born.”
She had to return to the hospital every day of those 18 days to get checked up on until she was able to deliver.
Despite the marathon of pain, she never lost her sense of humour.
She’s hoping that one day she’ll get to share it with her daughter. Kate is already planning the big reveal for her youngster.
“I personally can’t wait to show my daughter The Grinch for the first time when she’s older,” the mum explained.
“When we are done, I’ll show her the picture of my Grinch costume.”

Kate has since shared her experience on TikTok, and it’s brought on even more laughs.
“I think the most unexpected and funniest reaction was TikTok. I haven’t laughed so hard at that picture of me until I read the comments of everyone else laughing and speculating the nurse's reaction,” she admitted.
She also promises to film the most exciting reaction of all that’s still to come.
“Of course, I will record it for friends, family, and TikTok. I gained so many followers who want to see my daughter's reaction, I can’t not share it.”
Her little Who from Whoville may have stolen Halloween, but she left everyone smiling and laughing along the way.
