My strict Christian upbringing led me and my two sisters to the sex industry

Grace exclusively tells Kidspot about her journey from restrictive childhood in the church, to making $1 million a year on OnlyFans.

How to talk to your kids about sex

Growing up, Grace, a.k.a ‘Grace Wears Lace’, never thought she’d become one of Australia’s rising OnlyFans creators, or that her two sisters would also enter the sex industry.

For most of their young lives, the sisters grew up in a strict, religious household, attending church weekly in every country their family moved to.

Whether they were in Cambodia, Thailand, Latvia, Kazakhstan or Australia, their parents would homeschool them, and they were banned from having boyfriends, social media, the internet, and PG+ movies.

They also espoused conservative values about their bodies and sexuality.

Her sisters, Harriet and Maddie, grew increasingly disgruntled with this way of life, and one after the other, they turned their back on their parents and set out on their own paths.

Grace’s eldest sister, Maddie, took up escorting at the age of 23, and Harriet started stripping at 18 years old.

The confrontation about an 'innocent' bikini photo

“My parents were upset to find out about my sisters' career choice, and honestly, before I left the church, I judged them too,” Grace tells Kidspot exclusively.

“But watching them be true to themselves – even with the fallout from my family – made me question everything. I was tired of being ashamed of my own body.”

Then, one day, Grace had a confrontation with her mum about an ‘innocent’ bikini photo she posted to Instagram, and she started to realise how sick she was of being controlled and shamed over her own body.

It wasn’t long after that Grace followed in her sister’s footsteps, creating an OnlyFans account once she turned 21.

Much to her parent’s dismay, all three of their daughters had left the church within three years of one another.

"The answer was just to pray"

“Being the obedient Christian daughter was exhausting,” Grace says.

“It’s a high bar. You can’t struggle with mental health, or wanting to have sex or anything in conflict with your religion… and if you did struggle, the answer was just to pray. I knew there had to be a better way to live and make money, so I that’s why I turned to OnlyFans.”

Grace insists she wasn’t influenced by her sisters to join the industry. In fact, she said it was quite the opposite.

“They were nervous to hear that I was considering joining the industry after their experiences and our family’s response,” she shares.

“I was always the more reserved sister of the three, and I definitely joined in spite of their reluctance, not encouragement.”

"Let them find their own way"

While Grace has no ill feelings towards her family and her strict upbringing, she does have a clear message to other parents.

“I encourage everyone to allow their children to find their own way and love and support them no matter what, even if it conflicts with your own beliefs,” she says.

After the first year, Grace made over one million dollars, and now consistently rakes in five figures a month.
