My parents’ home was totally destroyed by their tenants and agents did nothing
“It sucks when things you’ve worked so hard for are f***ing destroyed by somebody who doesn’t give two s***s about somebody else’s property,” heartbroken Sofia shares in the video.

For Sofia’s parents, having an investment home was a great way to bring in extra income and added security for their family.
Renting out the property to a couple of people in their early 20s, they imagined all would be well, despite not receiving a “real background check” from the real estate agents.
So the Melbourne family were less than impressed when they received news there was a disturbance at the property.

“Watching Mum’s face as we walk through this horrendous sight is heart-aching”
In a TikTok, the family discovered the tenants completely destroyed the property, leaving behind nothing but a trail of destruction.
“Tenants have been kicked out for obvious reasons,” 25-year-old Sofia explained in the clip. “They’ve absolutely destroyed the house and left everything an absolute mess.”
The woman walked around the property, which she was preparing to clean with her family.
Every room of the house was covered in dust, with rubbish scattered all over the floor, mattresses leaning against the walls and cigarette butts in the hallway.
“They’ve left holes in the walls … they’ve got s**t everywhere, broken windows and a smell that is just not going away,” she said.
Amongst the mess were scattered wigs, women’s and men's clothes, empty cans of energy drinks and damaged furniture in every room.
“It's so heart-aching watching Mum’s face as we walk through this horrendous sight of whatever house is left behind,” Sofia captioned the video.

Tenants who destroyed property were “throwing parties for a month”
According to Sofia, the tenants, who were in their early 20s, were “throwing parties for a whole month” and ended up “trashing the place.”
As Sofia walked outside into the backyard, the wreckage continued. She approached a window that had a large blue tarp covering the glass.
“My parents had to come in and put a palette here 'cause they broke the window,” she explained.
What’s worse, she alleged the real estate agent “hasn’t done anything” to help the family. “Apparently, they haven’t even come in and checked the house,” she added. “Like, there was not a real background check on the people who were renting it out.”
For Sofia and her family, the experience is “really upsetting.”
“My parents got this property for investment, and they tried to clean it up, make it look nice to rent it out,” she said. “I don’t have any words. This place is absolutely disgusting.”
“We moved to Australia to try and make a f***ing better living for ourselves,” she continued.
“So it sucks when things you’ve worked so hard for are absolutely f***ing destroyed by somebody who doesn’t give two s***s about somebody else’s property … somebody else’s hard work.”

“How do people do this to our rentals?”
The video has attracted over 500,000 views since being uploaded, with hundreds of people sharing their sympathy for the family.
“OMG, and such a beautiful house - Sad this happened to you,” wrote a concerned person. “This is so heartbreaking to see,” said another. “I'm so sorry to your parents.”
“I cannot even fathom that there are people out there who treat people’s properties like this!” another shocked person wrote.
“This angers me. That looks like a beautiful house,” a comment read. “As a tenant myself, I don't understand how people do this to their rentals.”
But some saw the issue as a “rich person” problem. “My small violin strums for your rich parents with two investment properties,” an indignant comment read.
Others think Sofia was overreacting to the damage.
“It doesn’t look too bad,” someone wrote. “Saw a few holes in the walls and a couple of smashed windows … Could be a million times worse,” said another.
But others hit back at accusations of privilege. “People who have clearly never owned anything nice in their life and don’t care nor understand how this feels,” a supporter said.
