A mum has revealed the reason she lets her daughter have a day off school every month, and it's split the internet down the middle.
Noella, a mum from the US, revealed she and her daughter Giada spend one day a month doing whatever she wants, a fact which divided other mums.
The Sunreports those days could include shopping, snacking on fairy floss, or just playing with toys at home.

“I told my daughter she can pick one day each month to stay home from school without being sick,’ Noella said on a now viral TikTok.

"One every month is a little wild"
Some parents praised her for letting her daughter take what many called a “mental health day”.
However, others said it wasn’t a good idea to get in the way of her daughter’s education.
“One every month is a little wild just because she’ll expect it as she gets older, but I grew up knowing I could ask for a mental health day whenever I needed,” one person wrote.
Noella replied, saying that wouldn’t be an issue as she had ‘no plans’ to stop Giada from taking the day as she got older.
“I’m a teacher, and I’m not even mad about it,” one person wrote.
“Mental health days are super important, and let kids be kids,” another person said.
Another commenter agreed: “My mum did this whenever I would get so overwhelmed with school, and I’m honestly so thankful for that.”

"I'm totally doing this with my future kids"
However, Noella’s parenting style didn’t please everyone, as other commenters showed their concerns with Giada’s attendance.
“Make sure you double check attendance policy for how many days you can miss,” one person said. “My niece got held back.”
Another person asked the obvious question: “Why not just do this on the weekend?”
Some parents said they loved the idea and would start doing it with their kids.
"That’s so smart I'm totally doing this with my future kids,” one woman wrote.
"I love this and it's not hurting anyone, you go mom," another said.
