How to make the easiest ever Halloween costumes

Effective and low-effort, you can whip up these costumes without the use of a cauldron!

No costume? No problem! Let’s put together three costumes from things you (almost definitely) have in your house right now!

Pirate

Materials:

Boots

Striped Shirt

Belt with big buckle

Scarf

Face paint

For this quick pirate costume, grab a pair of boots, a striped shirt, a wide belt with a large buckle, and a scarf. Add a few facepaint scars and an eye patch to complete the swashbuckling look. Even Jack Sparrow would be impressed!

Mummy!

Materials:

Black top and tights

Bandages and/or toilet paper

Face paint 

Transform into a 3,000-year-old mummy in minutes using just toilet paper, bandages, and a bit of paint! Start by wrapping the toilet paper and bandages securely around your body—twisting the toilet paper slightly helps prevent tearing.

Next, paint thick white stripes (about 3–4 cm wide) across your face to mimic the look of wrapped bandages, then outline each stripe in black for added depth. Finish off by walking around with your arms outstretched, like you've just risen from the dead!

King/Queen of Hearts!

Materials: 

Red, black and white clothes

Headband or crown

Deck of cards

Hot glue gun 

Ribbon 

To create this royal attire, start by choosing any red, black, or white clothing. Bonus points if the fabric is shiny, sparkly, or voluminous! Next, gather a deck of playing cards and remove all the hearts. Take three of these heart cards and arrange them at the top of a headband or crown, securing them with a hot glue gun.

For the collar, arrange the remaining heart cards in a semicircle, glue them together, and let them dry. Once set, flip the collar over and attach a long ribbon to tie around your neck.

For the finishing touches on your royal look, apply white face paint all over your face, then add red lipstick in a heart shape centered on your cupid’s bow. Outline this heart in black paint. Use black paint to define your eyebrows and lashes, and go bold with a heavy application of blue eyeshadow.

With these finishing touches, you’ll be looking like a Queen before you can say, “Off with her head!”
