'He got home minutes after I found the camera'

“It’s not enough for the whole situation I’ve been through these three years. I was angry because the damage that he caused me is irreversible.”

Should you use a nanny cam?

A live-in nanny was left “petrified” after she discovered her millionaire boss was secretly videotaping her in her bedroom.

Kelly Andrade, 25, had been living with fast-food mogul Michael Esposito, 35, and his family at their multimillion-dollar home in New York while caring for his four children.

However, Kelly’s job came to an end when she found a camera hidden in a smoke detector in her bedroom.

"He seemed very nervous"

Kelly had only been working for the family for three weeks when she found the camera with a memory card filled with recordings of her “nude” or in a “state of dressing or undressing”.

Within minutes of her finding the camera, Esposito showed up to the house.

“He seemed very nervous and he seemed very worried when he arrived to the house,” she said.

When Esposito attempted to force his way into her room, Kelly decided to jump from a first-floor window, causing her to injure her knee.

The New York Post reports Kelly slept on the street the first night after escaping Esposito’s house, then reported the incident to police the next day.

"It's not enough"

Esposito was arrested in March, 2021, and Kelly was recently awarded a $4m payout for the incident.

However, Esposito avoided jail time on the condition he completes two years of probation and counselling.

Kelly told The New York Post she felt her former employer got off too lightly.

"He got to go home to his wife and children"

Her lawyer also described Esposito’s sentence as a “slap on the wrist”.

“Despite him doing this, he got to go home to his wife and children in their mansion and she’s sleeping on the street,” he said.

Kelly, who is originally from Colombia, now lives in New Jersey with her husband and is trying to recover from the ordeal.

She told The New York Post she was speaking out about her experience to help other nannies and immigrants who have also been “victims of abuse”.
