38-year-old man dies in Queensland highway crash

Madison Jardine had the world at her feet.

She’d just finished high school, and was on her way to being an NDIS care worker when her life was tragically cut short in a car crash.

“It was her passion, she loved her work,” her dad Michael told 7News.

"She loved her work"

Madison was tragically killed on January 3 while she was driving home to Toogoolawah, about 80 kilometres northwest of Brisbane.

She was driving through Esk, a town less than 20 kilometres south of her home, when she collided head-on with a truck along the Brisbane Valley Highway.

Madison died at the scene, while the 36-year-old driver of the truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Her dad Michael spoke to 7News last Thursday, on what would have been his daughter’s 20th birthday.

He said he’d be “speculating” if he tried to comment on the cause of the crash, which is still under investigation.

"Help us make her dream come true"

Michael said the Toogoolawah community had been “very supportive” to his family, as a GoFundMe started after Madison’s death had raised more than $17,000, and more than 400 attended her funeral.

Now, the family is trying to build something positive out of the tragedy and are in the process of starting a charity in Madison’s name.

The charity would provide disability support care services in the region, and would be led by Madison’s mum who also works in the care services industry.

“Help us make her dream come true to provide the right care that our disabled sons and daughters deserve, to be treated with the dignity and compassion that every human on this world deserves.”
