Anthony Albanese’s call after child banned from primary school canteen

The Prime Minister weighed in on a tuckshop dispute after a child was banned from a primary school canteen.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called for common sense to prevail after a child was banned from a primary school canteen.

Hocking Primary School’s P & C barred a young student from the tuckshop after his mother complained about a missed lunch order.

Natalie Durer sent an email to the canteen last year, according to Nine News.

“I am furious with the utter incompetence you continue to display, you need to get a new career as you are way too stupid,” the email read.

The heated message reportedly also asked if the person working could “actually read” and said “If I could report you for child abuse I would”.

“It was not a nice email. I did say some pretty inflammatory stuff,” Ms Durer told Nine News.

Despite writing an apology to the canteen, Ms Durer’s son Jaxon remains banned.

“I just really want to feel like normal with everybody else being able to order from the canteen,” he told Nine News.

Mr Albanese is the latest to jump in on the dispute, calling for a “bit of common sense”.

“Oh give the kid some lunch,” Mr Albanese said on Friday.

“Seriously. The kid shouldn’t be caught up in this argument. A bit of common sense should apply here and I’m sure that it will.”

Ms Durer reportedly sent a second apology to the tuckshop in May, however The Daily Mail has reported the P & C said the ban will stay.

“As an employer, we have an obligation to our canteen staff to abide by the WHS regulations in providing a safe physical and online working environment,” the P & C reportedly said.

“We also follow the Hocking Primary School behaviour management plan and code of conduct whilst on school grounds.”

Ms Durer said it’s wrong to punish her son for her actions.
