Pablo Conrad’s ScoMo portrait haunts Austin Lane briefly

A colourful mural of Australia’s fearless leader parodying the prime minister’s election victory speech and his Hawaiian holiday popped up and was then painted over in the Darwin CBD.

A HAUNTING portrait of Prime Minister Scott Morrison in one of Darwin City’s most colourful streets has been painted over.

Street artist Pablo Conrad painted mural last week in Austin Ln, which showed Mr Morrison in his holiday garb.

But the mural was painted over sometime between Sunday and Monday morning by the property owner, according to City of Darwin.

The mural was created on legal art space, meaning anyone can paint there without permission.

Condrad was inspired by Mr Morrison going on a family holidays during major Australian bushfires.

Famously after his surprise May 2019 election victory Mr Morrison said: ‘How good is Australia! How good are Australians!”

“The desired effect of what it was meant to be turned out well,” he said.

“I’ve had no negative comments towards it. It’s pretty self-explanatory. There’s better things old mate can be doing currently that I don’t think he’s addressing.”

He encouraged others to express their thoughts and opinions through art.

“You’ve just got to get out there and do it,” he said.

“It’s making waves across Australia and giving people a voice.”

Conrad plans to create a second mural with a similar theme this week.
