FOUR businesses in the Austin Lane and Spain Place precinct have been granted outdoor dining permits to expand their business onto the Darwin streetscape.
The venues – Little Miss Korea, Good Thanks, Moorish and Babylon Berlin – will now only need to lodge an application with the Liquor Commission for approval for material alterations to operate on the streetscape in the evolving precinct.

Darwin Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said it was a dream come true.
“I’ve been asking for it for a long, long time … we have been notified the old ugly lanes which are only used to load and unload goods and pick up the rubbish bins to a place we can use where people can actually enjoy dinner out, especially in the dry season,” he said. “They can do it everywhere else in the world … now it can be done in Darwin.
“We have four businesses who can actually put tables and chairs out there and certainly we would like to see (this sort of thing) expand into other areas.”
Mr Vatskalis said there had not been any objections to the proposal.
Given the varying nature of the businesses and infrastructure surrounding each, council has allowed different conditions for each.
Little Miss Korea has been granted licensed outdoor dining within the Austin Lane loading bay adjacent to its business each evening, and each weekend morning.
Good Thanks has been granted licensed outdoor dining within the 15 minute car parks outside its business in Spain Place each evening, and in the car parks used by adjacent businesses, subject to written approvals from the land owners.
Moorish Cafe has been granted licensed outdoor dining adjacent to the premises in Spain Place daily.
