Monster croc Brutus has wreaked his vengeance on Dominator by returning the favour of a surprise attack just days after a fierce clash between the two rivals in Adelaide River.
Video footage shows the two dominant males — who are both about 6m long — battled it out over territory again on Sunday.
Tourists aboard the Adelaide River Jumping Croc Cruise watched on in shock last Friday as Dominator snuck up and attacked Brutus while he was feeding.
But on Sunday the tables turned and it was Brutus who was out for blood.
Adelaide River Jumping Croc Cruise tour operator Sean Dealy said the three-legged croc seemed visibly agitated as he snuck up on Dominator during a midday feed.
“We pulled up to feed Dominator and in a split second Brutus swam up behind him,” he said.
“He took a swipe at the middle of his body and they just started going at each other, baring their teeth and thrashing around.
“Brutus was obviously still revved up from what happened to him on Friday and he ended up showing Dominator what’s what and chased him back into the mangroves.
“He might be getting old but he’s still got some fight in him.”
Mr Dealy said before last week, the two crocs hadn’t even been seen together.
“This is the time of year when crocs start to get very territorial, so who knows if they’ll keep this up,” he said.
“It’s the natural order of things.”
