Guy Sebastian has officially done his last turn in his swivel chair as a coach on The Voice Australia.
The Aussie singer, who shot to fame as the winner of the first season of Australian Idol in 2003, shared the sad news that he will not be appearing on the Channel 7 singing show moving forward.
“I have made the decision to take a break from the best red chair on the planet,” he shared in a statement posted on Instagram.
“It’s been six amazing years as a coach and it’s honestly been the best gig ever!"

A bittersweet goodbye
While congratulating this year's winner of the reality TV show, Reuben De Melo, Guy went on to hose down any rumours that might begin to circulate about why he is leaving the show.
“I have nothing but good things to say about the show itself, and sharing the panel with such amazing coaches has been a pleasure," he shared.
“It’s been a privilege to guide the next wave of Aussie talent alongside the wonderful teams and crew at Network 7 and ITV Studios!
“The best thing about the show is how positive it is and how much care and passion goes into making it a safe place for artists."

Time to focus on a different love
Guy went on to explain that he made the tough decision to leave the show after so long because he wanted to focus on his "core" - which is "writing and performing new music."
“I am busy planning shows in Australia and worldwide and I am really looking forward to getting out and connecting with you all there," he shared.
“For too long now, I have been reading comments from you asking when I will be visiting your town/country and it’s high time I come and visit!
“I’ve worked on this upcoming album for four years and I’ve poured everything I have into it, so I need to pay respect to that effort and the art I’ve created."

He might be back!
Seven chief content officer, Brook Hall, shared a statement shortly after Guy's announcement, thanking him for his loyalty to the long-running show.
“Guy has been a powerhouse coach for The Voice on Seven. His mentorship and command of artistry has been inspirational to our Voice artists and viewers alike, as well as the production team and all at Seven," she shared.
“We thank Guy for his unwavering passion and positive energy on set, and wish him well for next year, the release of his new album and his live shows.
“Our full coaching line up for the 2025 season of The Voice will be revealed in coming months.”
While it's unclear who will be replacing Guy in the famous swivel chair - or if fellow coaches Adam Lambert, LeAnn Rimes, and Kate Miller-Heidke will be returning - Guy hinted that he may be back when he's done with this next chapter.
“Whoever has the audacity to take my chair, don’t get too comfortable…I will wrestle for it back with zero dignity when I’m ready to return,” he insisted.
