My honest review

I desperately needed a new pair of gumboots — something comfy and stylish that I could wear everywhere this winter.

My old ones, which were more traditional and sat just below the knee, didn't check any of those boxes and thus only saw the light of day during extremely wet weather.

So, I took the plunge and got the cult Merry People Bobbi Boots in 'Chocolate & Black'.

Brown screams country-chic, in my opinion, but the black allows me to pair them with the rest of my city-centric wardrobe. Win-win!

When I first slipped them on, I knew they were going to be a game-changer. They felt like regular shoes on the inside but had the classic exterior of a gumboot.

They were sturdy, supportive, and fit perfectly in my usual size 39.

Pro tip: Wear thick socks. I think they’ve designed them with that in mind.

Since getting them, I’ve been practically living in these boots. Whether I’m trudging through mud on my partner’s farm or heading into the office on a wet Wednesday, they hold up brilliantly.

I also love how they blend into any outfit like a regular boot would, but in saying that, they're still noticeable enough to receive a bunch of compliments. 

With all the wet weather we’ve been having, I find myself reaching for them almost every day. Yes, even when it’s not raining!

And according to my mum friends, they’re the ultimate shoe for busy parents, perfect for school drop-offs, gardening, and playground trips.

Sure, they’re not the cheapest option out there, but considering how much wear I'm getting out of them, they’re worth every cent.
