'I gagged when I opened up the box': QANTAS meal stuns

"What in the world is that?"

Pepperoni and feta pizza bread

When it comes to plane food, we don't usually have the highest of expectations.

We know we'll probably get a lukewarm box of slops, a stale bread roll, and a fruit salad mainly comprised of honeydew melon.

However, one woman was recently shocked when she opened her QANTAS dinner and found something less appealing than the usual in-flight meal.

The Qantas 'pizza to go'

Taking to the Facebook page, 'Stuff Mums Like', a woman shared a photo of her in-flight meal, dubbed 'Pizza to Go', which features what can only be described as a soggy square of bread topped with a scattering of olives, sundried tomato and copious amounts of cheese.

To make things even less enticing, the lid of the box is smeared in a mysterious brown sauce, making the woman believe that little concern or effort was put into the presentation of the meal.

"The dinner they serve on QANTAS short-haul flights," she captioned the photo, alongside vomiting emojis.

"It was so oily," the mum added. "Like soaking in grease."

She also revealed that she opted not to eat the meal and made do with a Cherry Ripe she had in her bag instead.

"Yuck"

The disappointing meal quickly went viral, sparking a wave of backlash in the comments section. One person didn't hold back and said: "Looks like something my cat would leave me as a gift…"

"Looks like leftover veggies from last week thrown on a slab of dough and covered in melted cheese. Revolting," said another critic.

"I would throw that in the bin, yuck," chimed in a third.

"I marvel that catering cannot get their act together for this kinda gig, seriously!" a fourth pointed out.

"What in the world is that?" a different viewer asked.

And someone else shared: "Been on few QANTAS flights lately and found all the food horrible, it's really gone down hill."

"Looks yum"

However, not everyone was repulsed, with some defending the meal and saying it looked tasty.

"Looks good to me, I'd smash that," someone admitted.

"Yummm, I get so hungry on flights, this would have hit the spot perfectly," said a second.

Then an ex-QANTAS flight attendant quipped, "It's not a restaurant!"

"Yeah, planes are transport," someone replied in agreeance, "not foodie experiences."

"Are you expecting lobster with a glass of wine? Reality check..." a different user commented.
